Who We Are

David McAbee brings 37 years of church design experience to your project. His strong points are helping ministries understand and focus on infrastructure improvements that result in better ministry opportunities, providing options for economical construction and making sure that church buildings are safe and secure for all attendees. David was a state licensed plan reviewer for over 15 years so his knowledge and experience with code compliance is top-notch. David worked for other architectural firms for 14 years before founding McAbee Architects in 1999.

Melissa Guthrie joined the firm in 2002 and brings 22 years of experience to your project. Her attention to detail and creative abilities ensure that you get a beautiful and functional building. She holds architecture certificates in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina.

We Know Church Design

We have learned a few things about church design in the last two decades. Most architects have not done enough projects in this unique building type in order to gain the benefits reaped only through practical experience. While we have a long history doing church design, this does not mean we are stuck in the past. Church buildings must change over time to appeal to a younger generation. We attend national church conferences each year in order to learn the latest technology innovations and trends in the church design industry.
