When plans for Cornerstone Baptist Church’s renovation stalled due to unexpected development costs, we came up with a solution to utilize their existing location and allow the necessary expansion of their worship capacity by demolishing the old code-deficient building and constructing a new auditorium with a balcony.
When a portion of the ceiling was removed from the older part of the existing building adjacent to the new auditorium during schematic design, a unique exposed wood truss system and roof deck were discovered. We exposed this previously hidden structure and turned the area into a connecting concourse to serve the new auditorium.
